PisteWindow news
How news briefs are made
PisteWindow news briefs are generated from operator reports and verified season calendars by fixed rules. This page sets out those rules.
Fixed rules, no model text
Each brief is built from typed values in a source report: dates, lift counts, scope, access and measurements. Templates in nine languages turn those values into the headline and summary. No language model writes or edits the text.
What the checks require
A season opening needs explicit evidence of public access and open lifts in two separately timed source reports. Limited operation is published only when the source names the limitation. A depth change compares the same station, elevation and measurement, and is never called snowfall. Stale, failed or unclear data produces no brief.
Recorded reuse basis
Nothing is published unless a reuse basis for its source is recorded: a licence, written permission or another documented basis. Without one, the brief is held back.
Dates and times
Briefs give absolute dates in the resort’s local time zone, the period they apply to and when we retrieved the source.
Corrections and withdrawals
Briefs are never changed silently. Each change is a new revision in the brief’s revision log, and a material error is labelled Correction. A brief that should not have been published is withdrawn: its address stays, with a notice saying when and why.
Byline
Briefs are published by PisteWindow as an organisation. They are not attributed to named authors.
