When does the Aletsch Arena open for skiing?

The operator describes winter as December to April. When we checked its status report on 8 November 2026, only a few lifts were open and the pistes were not yet open. The official status report shows what is open on the day you plan to ski.[1][4]

Why is there one page for Riederalp, Bettmeralp and Fiescheralp?

The operator publishes one status list for the whole Aletsch Arena. Lift names mention the villages, but the list has no village field, so conditions cannot be split by village. This page therefore covers the area as a whole.[4]

Where do lift status and snow depth on this page come from?

Lift and slope status comes from the operator’s status report. Snow depth comes from two SLF stations in the Fiescheralp sector: Kühboden (manual, 2,210 m) and Flesch (automatic, 2,500 m). We found no station in the Riederalp or Bettmeralp sectors, and the operator’s own snow table still showed values from April, so it is not used.[4][5]

Are the 1,100, 1,950 and 2,870 m forecasts for the Aletsch Arena observations?

No. They are model values adjusted to 1,100, 1,950 and 2,870 m, calculated at one representative point (Fiesch valley station). The operator’s own reference elevations are Bettmeralp at 1,950 m and Eggishorn at 2,869 m.[2][4]
